Verla joined our dental team in the Spring of 2006, providing a wide array of medically focussed experiences ranging from Advanced EMT Training, to phlebotomy, to medical office scheduling, to working in the insurance field. Many of you will recognize Verla as our Receptionist, but if it has been awhile since you last came in, you will quickly notice that she has taken over as our Dental Hygiene Assistant, and now works primarily in the clincal area of the office.
With her strong background in office scheduling and a desire to take on a more clinical role in the office, Verla enthusiastically took the position in June of 2010.
Though she will focus on keeping our hygienists busy and stress-free, Verla will also be completing routine cleanings on children under the age of 17. After watching for four-plus years, the transition was nearly flawless, as Verla hit the ground running.
In addition, she will be able to use the skills she honed "up front" to more efficiently schedule both herself and our two hygienists.
Verla also completed her CPR Instructor's Certification in June of 2010, so will be our on-site trainer for future courses (...she may also be providing such courses on-the-side, so if you are interested in this for your busness...she is also a Pampered Chef gal...food, CPR, and hygiene for your kids...all wrapped up in one little red headed package). Of particular interest to Dr. Johnson, as he reflects on Verla's CPR Training, he notes, "Wow!! What an amazing talent to have in our very own office...though I have always felt relatively prepared for routine medical emergencies and love the fact that an ambulance can be in our parking lot within three minutes, having a Certified Instructor in the office...really cool...really cool!!"
Verla grew up in, and graduated from high school in Kamiah, and completed her college training at the Northwest College of Business in Portland. She lives in Lewiston with her husband, Steve, and three growing children, and when time permits, she enjoys traveling "to parts unknown," playing baseball with her kids, and scrapbooking.
Verla is a real class act, though finding her proved to be a chore. Despite the effort, she has been worth the "hunt," and we anticipate having Verla in our office for years to come.
