Meet Your Doctor

John J. Johnson

While still in dental school, Dr. Johnson adopted the simple notion that “...if you take care of your patients, they will take care of you.” As such, we are confident that when you first present to our office, and finally get to know Dr. Johnson and His Team, that you will come to appreciate that you are in a patient-centered dental office, and that you made an exceptional choice with your decision to come here. We know that as a consumer, that you could have selected any one of 40 different offices in the Quad-Cities, but because you chose our office to entrust your dental health to, that we are committed to you, and will do anything within reason to help you maintain or regain your dental health in a predictable and efficient manner.

Historically, dental offices have always been known for being scary places to go. Moreover, much of what is done is unknown, the costs are a surprise, and the office always runs late. For as much as we’d like to promise that none of this will ever happen, please know that our principals include keeping patients as educated and informed as possible to avoid surprises, uncertainty, and fear, all the while doing so in as friendly an office that we can provide. And to top it off, we rarely run behind schedule, remaining as respectful of your personal time as we can.

Dr. Johnson is a native Idahoan, growing up in Council, Potlatch, and McCall. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Idaho, he began his journey toward becoming a dentist. His studies ultimately took him to Pocatello, where he completed his first year of dental school at Idaho State University. From there, he transferred to Omaha, where he completed his formal training at Creighton University in 1995.

For those “in the know,” Creighton is best known for producing well-rounded general dentists, and despite being enticed by specialty programs, Dr. Johnson truly enjoyed the thought of doing a multitude of procedures on a multitude of patients, rather than focusing on a single dental discipline.

Upon graduation, he had the opportunity to return to North-Central Idaho, and has been thrilled with his decision ever since. Having many lifelong friends and most of his family in the area, made it a perfect fit. Moreover, he continues to brag about his twins (son Ian and daughter Rylie), who both finished at Lewiston High School in 2019. Rylie still lives in the LCV and works as a barista at a local restaurant, while Ian joined the United States Air Force, and works as a jet engine mechanic on a base in Southern California. He’s equally proud of both kids, and looks forward to watching them excel in their adult lives.

It took years and years of committed dedication to get to the point that John and his children are at right now. In preparation for the final decade of his practice-life, he certainly cannot let up off the gas pedal now, though he is highly committed to satisfying a more relaxing life where he gets to enjoy the area more and more. This means getting out on the golf course more. It means writing and publishing more, as he still entertains delusions of being a New York Times Best Selling Author. It also means getting out on the Snake and Salmon Rivers, and maybe drowning a worm once in a while. Most importantly, it means taking that next step in his Church Commitment, a responsibility that he takes very much to heart. With that, he hopes to fulfill the mantra that he taught Ian and Rylie when they were just little tikes: “Leave a Mark. Make a Difference.”
